On behalf of the Alabama USPSA Section, Talladega Practical Shooters and the Talladega CMP Marksmanship Park, thank you for participating in the 2027 USPSA Alabama State Championship.

Countless hours have gone into the planning, organization, logistics and design of this match and we couldn't be more excited to host it. I am grateful to all who have offered advice. Your input has been invaluable.

Match Briefing

Everything You
Need to Know

Range Safety

  • Cold Range. Firearms handled only in designated safety areas or under RO supervision.
  • Safety areas used for bagging/holstering, dry fire, and repair. No ammunition allowed.
  • Eye and hearing protection mandatory for all competitors and spectators at all times.

Heat Advisory

  • This match is held in spring in Alabama. Expect heat, sun, and humidity.
  • Limited shade on the range.
  • Hydrate before, during, and after. Water provided on each bay.
  • Seek shade when possible between stages.

Registration & Meeting

  • Head to your first stage by 8:30 AM.
  • No formal shooters' meeting — short briefing at your first stage.
  • Range opens at 7:00 AM. Shooting begins at 9:00 AM.

Match Details

  • This is a competitor-reset match. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
  • Minimum round count: 250 rounds.

Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC)

  • Carry vertically (muzzle up or down). Chamber flags installed until instructed by RO.
  • Staged in bays or carts, muzzle toward backstop/side berm.
  • "Cased" = sleeve covering muzzle past trigger guard.
  • Failure to point muzzle safely during casing/uncasing = DQ.

Match Scoring

  • Live scoring via PractiScore — uploaded continuously.
  • No paper prints. Review scores on the PractiScore website.
  • Report errors to shooter services immediately.
  • 1-hour arbitration window after "final" scores are posted.

Awards & Prizes

  • Awards follow USPSA Rule Book Appendix A2 (min. 5 competitors per division/class).
  • Conferred to overall high shooters, Alabama champions, and first-place class finishers.
  • No formal ceremony — winners announced via email and social media.
  • Random draw prizes delivered to shooters during the day.

Food & Facilities

  • Lunch provided for competitors and staff. Extra meals available for purchase.
  • Complimentary bottled water in each bay.
  • Restrooms near main parking lot; portable toilets near stages.
  • Registration & shooter services at the range shack.

Parking

  • Follow signs to Range 5.
  • No competitors will be allowed to park near the bays.
  • Keep all access roadways clear for range staff and emergency vehicles.

CMP Waiver

All competitors and spectators must complete a CMP waiver before entering the range.
